In The Ashes, I Find My Key

Written by: Kimberly Knaus

There he goes movin' down that track

Where he goes, I don't know, but he ain't comin' back

He don't say good-bye to all his kin

But I say good-bye to what might have been

There they go movin' on by

15 years of my lonely life

The train's in motion with the cold winter wind

and I say good-bye, good-bye to him

Beneath the sorrow, a new sunrise

I’m stronger with every tear that falls

My faith in Jesus helps me stand tall

This heart’s been broken, but it won’t break me

In the ashes, I find my key

In the quiet of a worn-out porch swing

I trace the lines of a faded ring

A love I couldn't hold slipped through my hands

It slipped right through my hands

Beneath the sorrow, a new sunrise

I’m stronger with every tear that falls

My faith in Jesus helps me stand tall

This heart’s been broken, but it won’t break me

In the ashes, I find my key

The lonesome tune of the midnight train

Echoes the ache, but I feel no shame

I lost that love but, not my soul

Finding pieces that make me whole

The winter wind's melancholy voice is a faithful friend

Leading me home, where strength begins

I’m stronger with every tear that falls

My faith in Jesus helps me stand tall

This heart’s been broken, but it won’t break me

In the ashes, I find my key

I’m stronger, much stronger with every tear that falls

My faith in Jesus helps me stand tall

This heart’s been broken, but it won’t break me

In the ashes, I find my key

There he goes movin' down that track

Where he goes, I don't know but he ain't comin' back

This heart’s been broken, but it won’t break me

In the ashes, I find my key
